Looking Back at Looking Forward

My 30th birthday is just around the corner. I remember times when I was much younger, when I would think ahead to the 21st century, a time that seemed so far in the future, and wonder at the person I would become. And now, just over six weeks from starting my 31st year, I am happy to report that things so far seem to have worked out pretty well.

Perhaps that statement’s greatest support comes from my looking forward in positive anticipation rather than looking back with regret. It is an exciting time—and a challenging time—for all of us, and I’m eager to move forward. I’m eager to make my younger self proud.

Thirty, hunh? It's been a while since I've seen that one, Romann. It was a good time of my life in many ways (I had an amazing 5 year old child around that time - now she's an amazing college student!). But with the exception of the physical changes that become harder to lasso into order, it's even better now that I'm older.

Seems like life settled into a smoother identity, an easier time of just being who I am, and how I am. Less trying to fit in, to find my place in the scheme. There's something to this quality of vintage thing...

So congrats on coming up to the big 3-0, and here's to knowing that it keeps getting better even beyond that.

Thanks for stopping by the Yada Feast.

All the Best,
Fran

Today the Los Angeles Times announced that Chic Korea, Isaac Hayes and beck have jumped (tho their cerebral deaths) onto the ever-popular Scientology bandwagon.

Excuse the typos.

Yes, Chick has been wrapped up in that garbage since the 1970s, and I believe Beck was actually raised in the "religion." Isaac Hayes got into it through the ridiculous "Study Technology," which goes to show how it is not distinct from Scientology, despite the organization's claims. Many others get involved in it through the drug-treatment scam known as Narconon. Sigh.
